Cochem, Germany

Cochem, Germany:  July 23
As we cruised to Cochem, we saw lots of campgrounds, located riverside at the bottom of the hills filled with vineyards.

Today we opted to "do it ourselves".  Our ship was docked about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the city center so off we went to explore Cochem.  As you can see from the photos, Cochem Castle rises above the town of about 5,000.  It's quite a picturesque village with half-timbered houses and is rated one of the prettiest along the Moselle River.  We didn't have much time here so we enjoyed a leisurely walk and enjoyed the views.  From here we cruised the Moselle to Koblenz, where the Moselle and Rhine converge.  This is the famous Deutsches Eck or German Corner. We overnighted here in anticipation of our Rhine Gorge cruising tomorrow morning.

I will say that I've never seen so many swans!!!  They are so graceful & so beautiful!  Here's a swan family photo.
